January's the birthday month :) esther

January's the birthday month :)

I got a surprise by none other than Esther this morning, right after I was done with the behavioral science video taping. :) When I met her this morning, she handed me a bag with my belated birthday gift inside! =D

Inside was a blue blankie, which looked ALOT like a baby blanket :) I heart! haha. It came with a lovely handwritten heartfelt message and a blue paper clip. Esther remembers my partiality towards the colour blue =D

Look how adorable she is! *hearts* She's one of a kind, talented and smart, beautiful on the outside and inside, and someone whom is real, not fake :)
*psst guys, she's still single. Tell me if u're interested XD better hurry!*

Thank you Esther ... for the blankie :) And more importantly, for our friendship :) One that is nice and warm, pretty and real! :) You go girl, go out and shine for the world to see, show them how you can beat them in nearly almost everything! =D

sexiest 2010 birthday

A Dedication to Sexiest...the people who rock my life :)

I know this is REALLY belated. But I've wanted to post this up for very long now. This post is specially dedicated to Sexiest - thank you for making my days special :) You guys hold a special place in my heart...and I think you know that :)

8th of January was Eldwin's (Daddy!) birthday. *plays the happy birthday song...happy belated birthday daddy!* And of course, as usual, Sexiest had already put together a "Surprise". the reason being that the more people involved, the more the birthday boy would suspect. haha. and he did already know. *geez....what surprise la lol*

Birthday cake reading: Happy 21th birthday Eldwin and Joanne

But that, apparently was not the only surprise. They decided to do a "double celebration", in other words giving me a belated birthday celebration. After singing happy birthday to Eldwin they started singing "happy birthday" for the second time...and I knew it :') I cannot tell you how touched I was. :)

...Sexiest even got me my very own acoustic guitar!
(which I had wanted since form 2 and was planning to buy JUST before they got me one)

It was a simple celebration, but heart warming. It reminded me one of the reason's why I love people. :) I'm truly blessed to be able to love and be loved. and as always...

The pretty ladies in my life - Melody, Ruby, Siew See :)

Sexiest... you're all HOT ! haha =D =D =D

Somehow I like this picture the best...it looks natural, not posed.
and I heart my guitar :) But I heart Sexiest even more :)

Gasp...I'm 21 already? *the horror* hahaha I think not, I'm just 18..for the 4th time :)

gp posting

GP(General Practitioner) Posting Day 1 - My Side of the Story

I just read a friend's comment that "GP Posting is a waste of time" on fb. Aha. Whether it is, or it's not, its a necessary part of IMU's medical education curricular.

Caution: This is going to be a picture-less post.

11-15th Jan, I'm "attached" to a clinic near my place, Dr Leow's Clinic.

The pro's:
- Doing attachment with a good friend, Ash definitely is the best :) I couldn't have picked a better partner. Lunch was fun, chit chatting and just talking bout anything - friends, love, relationships, our doctor, and many other things under the sun :)
- The doctor is "cute" la. Aha. In Ash's words, very "grandfather" like. The way he answers the phone with a strained "hallow"; the "kambing" (what people call donkey he uses goats instead XD) and the bs's .
- We can come and leave ANYTIME. like the doctor said, we're "not critical to the clinic's practice" XD

The con's:
- Waking up early. Don't like Don't like Don't like!!!
- Standing. I mean , we could get a stool and sit la. but then the place is like so small and cramped. Aha. We stood from 9-12.45 today in the morning, then a lil' more in the noontime.

Miscellaneous:
Let me tell you more bout our GP doctor. Hahaha. Firstly, he's really really nice. He allows you to ask any question :) And then when a patient comes in, he assesses the patient from a "clinician" point of view, and hence , the diagnosis commonly is "stress" and "allergy / irritable bowel due to stress".

Its very amusing as well that when we came back after lunch, we heard chinese oldies tunes playing, presumably from his laptop. (This doc is a tech junkie... he uses the comp for EVERYTHING. and he still has his old pc's dating back to pentium II and older still...lol). the music is the ones that people can use to "excercise" or "practice qi gong/ kung fu" with. You can imagine Ash and I trying our very best to keep our laughter in while listening to the music..and imagining people "hu" *sword waves* "ha" *steady tai chi strokes* XD

Lets see how day 2 goes :)

09 no regrets

10 Things I enjoyed back in 2009

Of course, there were many things I enjoyed. And there was also the up's and downs. These were some of the "up's" , in no particular order.

#1. Orientation M109. Alongside 3 other brilliant comrades, taking up the postition of dress code officer. Also orientating Group 11- Sexiest. Sexiest became my family and hangout, a place where somehow...the group had alot of chemistry. Sexiest - you guys rock :)

Sexiest - toothbrush mania .
The task (to get my signature) was to brush each other's teeth (with toothpaste!) while singing "old macdonald had a farm, eiyah e-yah o" - Hilarious! haha
And all done out of good fun

#2. Choosing literature as my selective - It was a "Dream come true" since I wanted literature even before I entered IMU itself. I enjoyed every moment of it - even writing the reports both with a partner and by myself - and of course the play where I was given the chance to emcee and perform a self composed song.

Fatin, Sandip, my partner the hot young oracle Angeline - scenes after the play

#3. KKB posting! It was very much like a school trip, albeit much more fun. Esp like going to the ER (even at nights) and watching the MA's and doctors at work. I even got to do an IV drip and administer medication! (dropped my first syringe lol) Learnt alot, and it was really refreshing + reenergizing. I guess I like clinicals alot :)

In KKB women's dorm (which is dirty) which buddy Ida -she even got to do sutures :)

#4. Going for the Kampung Angkat project. I know its a one day (half day! ) thing, but it was a good time to mingle with friends, and be "exposed" to the rural areas, where children don't know the names of their mothers. And hey, I got a free t-shirt ;)

The banner of the Kg Angkat project with Zia, Hasni, Sooky and June

#5. Going for the Homestay program by Malay cultural society @ Sg Dorani. Definitely a refreshing trip with lots of scenery and new kg style stuff like painting batik (I love!!!) especially after staring at the computer for ages. (what else does one do at home??) Love meeting new people, (trying to) learn and understand new cultures.

@Sungai Dorani

#6. IMU Cup. Being secretary of Hydra house (more like forced into it? lol). Scrabble. Especially darts. It was a good experience both learning teamwork and leading as a captain. Silver medal? In my heart, we're ALL winners. Nobody cares what placing the other got in the end. It was the many new friendships fostered and the experiences in which the team stuck with and encouraged one another that really brings back treasured memories.

My beloved darts team - bittersweet success. You guys are the bombs :)

#7. Maxis Scholarship. Truthfully it was a road that was also "up and down" for this one...but the experiences of being selected for interviews, and finally getting the email that says "congratulations was sorta just the beginning. It was also a time of meeting new and great people, fellow scholars. Had a lot of fun at the photoshoot with these pple, getting to know them. Then there was the awards ceremony, in which I was rubbing my eyes the WHOLE TIME due to the frickin mascara.

Maxis Photoshoot. Smart pple :)

#8. Art festival. Emceeing alongside a good friend Eldwin. (Ash, when're we going to emcee together?!?) It was again, a good experience. I remember when I was younger my passion / desire /dream has always to be emcee. Somehow I feel its funny - I love emceeing and yet I feel like I am always at a lost for words, like I'll say something stupid and doesn't make sense...haha.

#9. Orientation M209. Got to know a bunch of more reserved (compared to sexiest) - but still great bunch of people. Bro's and sis's - one who kononnya looks like me! haha long lost bro

Chill@ Variety night + OO's aka Sexiest

#10. Last but definitely not least. Meeting and getting to know my beloved friends out there. Its one thing to meet new people. But it's also another thing to really get to know them and to find out that they are your friends. True friends, some who encourage, some who cheer you up, some who entertain you and all who are there when you need them. All my friends - you know who you are - thank you for being a blessing and an immense encouragement in my life. Sooky, Chong Sen, Ashvini, Sam and the Lala gang, Esther, Sexiest, Sandip and more - you guys make my life more colourful, entertaining definitely, and more meaningful :)

...I've got alot to be grateful for :)

And of course to the family who loved me so much to get an expensive cake despite having no fridge space and going out all the way to buy it. :) Thank you for loving me for who I am.

and to those who took the time to write personal msges ...and even write me a poem - heartfelt thanks! :) *hearts Ash*

The poem is really good - cant believe its for me! :O

Childhood like a distant boat,

Course taken, others wrote.
Rebelled from your chosen way,
Winds and waves aided; youth astray.

Swan-like elegance, grew-up brisk,
Memories remain on a disk.
Unique and random, cannot deny,
With each passing day - Glorify!

Now at the age of twenty-one,
Life has truly just begun.
Hope an
d wish, your dreams come true,
Along the way, a gorgeous view

Happy 21st bday Joanne. And as you so aptly put it always...you RAWK.

Thank you all of you who made me smile! you guys really make this life more meaningful... you're the butterflies and sunflowers that colour my life beautiful. I love you all too ! :)
